Kotka International Film Festival - For everyone
admission to the performances of the event is free
The 2022 program promises film screenings as well as an extensive Sanavana event on multilingual literature. KIFF's themes are the most topical: the program's domestic and international films deal with human rights, climate change, refugees, war and other world crises.
The multilingual Sanavana event presents poetry and literature in different languages, through stage poetry, a book exhibition, a panel discussion and a children's event.
"During wars and major crises, cinema continues to play a leading role in presenting different visions and solutions."
Ghatfan Ghanoom
KIFF's film offering is extensive. A total of 18 films from 13 different countries are shown at the Kinopalatsi. Domestic films are strongly present this year. Directed by Erkki Perkiömäki, Suo is a Finnish film about life after the Civil War in Finland. Miikka Petteri Poutiainen's documentary The rebels reflect on the commitment of young people to the Elokapina movement, which implements measures to combat climate change in many different ways.

KIFF software
consists of short films and feature films, documentaries and animations. The jury of the competition section of the event includes documentary filmmaker Jouko Aaltonen and the artistic director of the Academy of Moving Image project, film director Erol Mintaş.
The festival's producer is Emissa ry from Helsinki, which has been organizing the Scandinavian International Film Festival (SCIFF) in Helsinki since 2016. In Kotka, Emissa's partners are the city's cultural and event services, urban development and communications, immigration services, as well as the Multicultural Center Mylly, Kotka-Kymi Parish and the Repin Institute.
